Welcome to my home page! I am a mathematician specializing in
algebraic topology, particularly stable homotopy theory. I am in the Math Department at Wesleyan University (where my wife,
Karen L. Collins,
works as well). My e-mail address is
mhovey@wesleyan.edu.
I have built a list of open problems in algebraic topology . This list has not been updated in a long time, so use with care.
I also run the Putnam practice sessions at Wesleyan, at least in some years. This page contains old Putnam exams and solutions, as well as practice sheets.
Here is my list of publications, where you can download some of my papers. There are also some notes from some of my talks. In addition, here is my vita (pdf file).
I maintain a mailing list of new papers uploaded to the Hopf topology
archive. Don Davis has been distributing my messages since July
1995 through his
mailing list. To subscribe to Don's mailing list, send mail to him
at dmd1@lehigh.edu. Here is the directory of my messages. Here is the latest mailing. Other useful links to
archives of math papers include the front to the arXiv at Cornell
, the arXiv itself, and the Urbana K-theory archive
.
To write my papers, I use Ultra-TeX mode in Emacs. This does automatic completion on standard and user-defined TeX macros, and makes the whole process of coping with TeX much simpler. For more information, see John Palmieri's home page. John is the official maintainer of Ultra-TeX. John has also written a program with Bill Dwyer that will automatically download BibTeX entries from the MathSciNet database! Look on his home page for it.
I also have a list of other topologists' home pages, which I do not do a very good job of keeping up to date. But anyway, here it is, along with some other topology related links.
